Our Courses in Lebanon

Al Khawarizmi Institute was established in 2011 and offers seven languages, computer and digital design, university and international exam preparation, and UK-licensed NLP. Every course below runs at our main branch in Simkanieh (the Chouf), and most courses are also available as live online classes, so distance need not stop you.

Frequently asked questions

Which course should I start with?

If you are here for a language, start with a placement exam — it is free, written, and decides your level. If you are here for a specific exam or a computer skill, go directly to that course page and message us.

Are courses available online as well as in person?

Every course runs at our main branch in Simkanieh, and most courses are also available as live Zoom classes, taught live by a teacher at the same fee. Students join from across Lebanon and from outside Lebanon.

Where are your branches?

Our main branch is in Simkanieh (the Chouf), on the main road beside Irfan school and facing Lefco market, and we also have a branch in Aley — ask us which groups run there. Our Beirut (Mar Elias) and Choueifat branches are paused for now.

How much do courses cost?

As a reference, group courses start from $150, quoted in US dollars, and private lessons are charged per hour in blocks of 20 hours. Fees vary with the course and your level, so we confirm yours before you enrol — there is no registration fee, and you can pay in cash, by Whish or by OMT. Message us on WhatsApp and we answer straight away during opening hours, Monday to Saturday, 8am to 8pm.

How does the placement test work?

The placement test is free, written, and takes 20–30 minutes. It is usually taken at the branch, and online in some circumstances. Complete beginners can start. It places language levels, from A1 to C2.

Do I get a certificate?

Yes, for each language level: a certificate stating the course completed and its dates, recognised by the Lebanese Ministry of Education and Higher Education. An exam at the end of each level decides the move up.

How do I hold a place in a group?

Each course and level has a waiting list, and a group opens when enough students are ready. To hold a place on the list, you register and pay in advance.

Can I pause a course or switch group?

Pausing is possible in some circumstances but not recommended. A student who has to stop for a valid reason can continue later in a new class, and you can switch group if your schedule changes.

Not sure which course fits?

Tell us your goal — an exam, a job, a university file, or a skill you want to pick up — and ask us. We answer straight away during opening hours, Monday to Saturday, 8am to 8pm. Call 00961 71 27 67 13 or message us on WhatsApp.
