ACT Preparation Course in Lebanon

The ACT is a fast exam. Students who know the material still lose points to its pacing, and they usually discover that the first time they sit a full timed paper. Al Khawarizmi Institute has prepared students for university entrance exams since 2011, and our ACT course is built around timed practice rather than theory.

What the course covers

  • All four sections — English, Mathematics, Reading and Science
  • The optional Writing section, if your universities ask for it
  • Timed practice exams, so the pacing stops being a surprise
  • Question-type strategy: what is being tested, and what to leave
  • Review of each practice paper, so the next attempt fixes something specific

ACT or SAT?

Most universities accept either, so the right answer depends on where you are applying and which format suits how you work. We prepare for both — see our SAT preparation course — and will tell you which one to sit rather than which one we happen to be running.

In person or online

Classes run in person at our main branch in Simkanieh (the Chouf), and as live Zoom groups for students anywhere else in Lebanon or abroad — taught live by a teacher, never recorded, at the same fee as in person. We also have a branch in Aley: ask us which groups are running there. Our Beirut (Mar Elias) and Choueifat branches are paused for now; students from those areas study online or at our other branches.

Timing, fees and how to start

  • Start at least two months before your exam — longer is better. Exam sooner? Crash courses are available, and we tell you honestly whether your target is realistic in the time you have.
  • A free placement test first — written, 20–30 minutes.
  • Group or private. Groups usually meet twice a week, 1–2 hours a session, including Saturdays. Private one-to-one lessons are charged per hour, in blocks of 20 hours.
  • Fees. Group courses start from $150 (USD) as a reference; exam courses vary, so we confirm the fee for your course before you enrol. No registration fee. Cash, Whish or OMT.
  • Tailored to you. Preparation follows what you need, including the optional Science and Writing sections. The ACT is not held at the institute; we help you register online.

Frequently asked questions

What does the ACT cover?

English, Mathematics and Reading — those three are averaged into your Composite score. Science and Writing are both optional and sit outside the Composite, so check whether the universities you are applying to ask for them. It is a fast exam, so pacing matters as much as knowledge.

ACT or SAT — which should I sit?

The universities you are applying to decide, and most accept either. We prepare for both — see our SAT preparation course — so tell us where you are applying and we will point you at the right one.

Do you run practice exams under timed conditions?

Yes. Timed practice is the core of the course, because the first time a student meets real ACT pacing should not be on test day.

Can I prepare for the ACT online?

Yes, as live Zoom classes, for students elsewhere in Lebanon or abroad.
