A TOEFL score sits on a university or immigration file for years, so the cost of an underprepared attempt is a resit and a delay. Al Khawarizmi Institute has taught English in Lebanon since 2011 and is an authorized Cambridge and IELTS training centre. Our TOEFL course is 20 hours of intensive coaching, built section by section.

TOEFL or IELTS?
Both are accepted widely, but not interchangeably — the institution you are applying to decides. We prepare students for both, so tell us where you are applying and we will point you at the right one rather than the one we happen to be running. How we work
We assess your English level before enrolment. If the base needs strengthening, our General and Academic English course comes first — exam coaching cannot substitute for the language underneath it.
Where classes run
Classes run at our three branches — Beirut (Mar Elias), the Chouf (Simkanieh) and Choueifat (Saida Old Street) — and as live Zoom groups for students elsewhere in Lebanon or abroad. Same teachers, same materials, same certificate either way.

They are accepted by different institutions and they test in different formats. Tell us which universities or employers you are applying to and we will tell you which test to sit — we prepare students for both.
Can I take the TOEFL course online?
Yes. The same course runs as live Zoom classes with the same teachers, and students join from across Lebanon and from Arab countries abroad.
Do I need a certain English level before starting?
We assess your level first. If your English base needs strengthening before exam training, we will say so rather than take you into a course that will not move your score.
