The English Entrance Exam decides more than an admission line. A weak result routes students into remedial English before their actual programme begins — extra semesters, extra fees, and a slower start than their classmates. Al Khawarizmi Institute was established in 2011 and is a certified Cambridge and IELTS training centre. We prepare students for the entrance exam their university actually sets. Our guide the EEE in Lebanon: AUB, LAU and BAU compared explains how the universities differ.
There is no single EEE
The EEE is not one national exam. Each university in Lebanon sets its own English entrance exam, and AUB, LAU and BAU each differ. That is why we ask which university you are applying to before anything else, and prepare you for that exam rather than for a generic test. If you are applying to more than one university, tell us all of them.
What preparation covers
- Preparation for the entrance exam of the university you are actually applying to — AUB, LAU, BAU or another
- Honest advice on whether your target is realistic in the time you have, including when a date is too soon
- A crash course if your exam is soon, or a fuller course if you have time
- In person at Simkanieh or live online on Zoom, in a group or privately
When to start
Start at least two months before your exam; longer is better. If your exam is closer, ask about a crash course. It is designed for students with an exam soon, and we will say plainly what is realistic in the time left.
How groups work
New groups open monthly. Each course has a waiting list, and a group opens when enough students are ready; the teacher agrees the schedule with them. Groups usually meet twice a week, 1 to 2 hours a session, and morning and Saturday classes are available. To hold a place on the waiting list, you register and pay in advance. If your schedule changes, you can switch group.
Online groups are separate from in-person groups. Slides, PDFs and links are sent by WhatsApp or email, and students can move between online and in-person.
In person or online
Classes run in person at our main branch in Simkanieh (the Chouf), and as live Zoom groups for students elsewhere in Lebanon and outside Lebanon — taught live by a teacher, never recorded, at the same fee as in person. We also have a branch in Aley: ask us which groups are running there. Our Beirut (Mar Elias) and Choueifat branches are paused for now; students from those areas can study live online, or ask us about Aley.
Timing, fees and how to start
- Start at least two months before your exam — longer is better. Exam sooner? Crash courses are available, and we tell you honestly whether your target is realistic in the time you have.
- Group or private. Groups usually meet twice a week, 1–2 hours a session, including Saturdays. Private one-to-one lessons are charged per hour, in blocks of 20 hours.
- Fees. Group courses start from $150 (USD) as a reference; exam courses vary, so we confirm the fee for your course before you enrol. No registration fee. Cash, Whish or OMT.
- Your university’s EEE. There is no single EEE in Lebanon — AUB, LAU and BAU each set their own — so preparation follows the university you are applying to. See the EEE in Lebanon: AUB, LAU and BAU compared.
Frequently asked questions
What is the EEE?
The English Entrance Exam is the English test Lebanese universities use to decide admission and English placement. A weak result can mean remedial English courses before your actual programme starts — extra semesters and extra fees.
How is preparing for the EEE different from IELTS preparation?
The exams differ, so the preparation does too. We prepare you for the exam you are actually sitting. If you need IELTS instead, we run a separate IELTS preparation course.
When should I start preparing?
Start at least two months before your exam; longer is better. If your exam is sooner, crash courses are available. Tell us your exam date.
Can I prepare online?
Yes, as live Zoom classes with a teacher — never recorded — at the same fee as in person.
Is there one EEE for all Lebanese universities?
No. There is no single EEE in Lebanon. Each university sets its own, and AUB, LAU and BAU each differ, so we prepare you for the exam of the university you are applying to.
Is my target score realistic?
We tell you honestly. We advise whether your target is realistic in the time you have, including when your exam date is too soon.
How do the groups run?
New groups open monthly, with a waiting list for each course. Groups usually meet twice a week for 1 to 2 hours, and morning and Saturday classes are available.
