TOEFL in Lebanon: Fee, Dates, Test Centres and How to Register

The TOEFL iBT costs $255 in Lebanon, before any VAT or other tax, according to the ETS fee page. You find dates and test centres on the schedule page in your ETS account, because ETS does not publish one fixed list for Lebanon that we can repeat here. The test is not held at Al Khawarizmi Institute. We prepare students for it, and our team helps you register if you find that part difficult.

Where and when can I take the TOEFL in Lebanon?

Lebanon is on ETS’s country list, which says nearly all listed locations have test centres for in-person testing and sends students to the schedule page to find locations and dates. ETS says the test centre option is available worldwide and is offered more than 170 times a year. We do not name centres or dates here, because they change and a wrong date costs you money. Search for your own date in your ETS account.

Can I take the TOEFL at home in Lebanon?

ETS describes the Home Edition as the same TOEFL iBT test, taken at home and monitored online by a human proctor, and says it is available worldwide. Your room and your equipment must meet ETS’s requirements, so read them on its testing options page before you choose this route. ETS also tells you to check with the institutions you are applying to, and that step matters. Do it before you pay, not after you have a score.

How do I register for the TOEFL from Lebanon?

  • Check what score and which test your university or authority accepts, and write down its deadline.
  • Create an ETS account using your name exactly as it appears on your ID.
  • Open the TOEFL registration page and schedule your test online, choosing a test centre or the Home Edition.
  • Pay the fee and keep your confirmation.
  • Plan your preparation backwards from that date.

If any step goes wrong, send us a message. Our team helps students with IELTS and TOEFL registration when they find it difficult.

What TOEFL score do I need in Lebanon?

It depends on the university, so start with its own admissions page. As one local example, LAU lists TOEFL iBT 80 on the 0 to 120 scale, or 4.5 on the 1 to 6 scale, as its minimum, and says minimums may change without notice. Notice that it gives two scales. When a university quotes a TOEFL score, check which scale it means.

Should I take the TOEFL or the IELTS?

Start from what the place you are applying to accepts. For university the two are often both accepted, but for migration the rules are stricter. Canada’s Express Entry and the UK’s visa routes, for example, have their own lists of approved tests. We explain this in IELTS or TOEFL: how to choose. If you end up needing the IELTS, read the IELTS in Lebanon guide.

How long should I prepare, and how do we help?

Start at least two months before your test date if you can. Longer is better, and if your date is sooner we run crash courses. We begin with a free written placement test of 20 to 30 minutes, so your plan starts from your real level. Then we tell you honestly whether your target is realistic in the time you have.

Classes are live with a teacher, in person at our main branch in Simkanieh, in the Chouf, or online on Zoom at the same fee. Usually there are two sessions a week, each one to two hours, and morning and Saturday groups exist. You can also take private lessons, charged per hour in blocks of 20 hours. Group courses start from $150 as a reference figure, exam courses vary, and we confirm the fee for your course before you enrol. There is no registration fee.
