Al Khawarizmi Institute has been a language school in Lebanon since 2011. We teach seven languages across three branches and online, and every one of them starts the same way — with a placement exam, so you join the level you are at rather than the one a brochure assumes.
Languages we teach
English Language Courses
All levels, plus IELTS, TOEFL, SAT, Cambridge and Business English.
French Courses in Lebanon
Lebanon’s second working language — for school and university, for professional life, and for anyone moving to France or Canada.
Spanish Courses in Lebanon
The fastest early progress for Arabic and French speakers, taken for travel, Latin American markets and study abroad.
German Courses in Lebanon
Usually attached to a deadline — a university place, a job offer or a visa file. We plan backwards from your date.
Italian Courses in Lebanon
For study in Italy, work in design, fashion and hospitality, or family and citizenship paperwork in progress.
Russian Courses in Lebanon
From the Cyrillic alphabet up, in small groups, for work, research or community and family ties.
Arabic Courses for Non-Native Speakers
For expatriates, diaspora learners and researchers — reading and writing, everyday conversation, or both.
How our language courses work
Placement exam first. Levels from complete beginner through to advanced. Small groups, morning and evening, so school students, university students and working adults can all find a slot. Speaking is practised from early on rather than saved for the end — the point is to use the language, not to describe it.
Where classes run
Classes run at our three branches — Beirut (Mar Elias), the Chouf (Simkanieh) and Choueifat (Saida Old Street) — and as live Zoom groups for students elsewhere in Lebanon or abroad. Same teachers, same materials, same certificate either way.
Frequently asked questions
Which languages do you teach?
English, French, Spanish, German, Italian and Russian, plus Arabic for non-native speakers. Every one of them runs at all three branches and as live online classes.
How do you decide which level I join?
A placement exam before you enrol, in whichever language you are starting. We measure what you can produce, not just what you recognise.
Can I learn two languages at once?
Yes, and a number of our students do. Tell us both goals and we will schedule the groups so they do not collide.
Do online classes use the same teachers?
Yes — the same teachers, the same materials and the same certificate as the classroom groups.
Not sure which level or which language?
Tell us what you need the language for and by when. Call 00961 71 27 67 13 or message us on WhatsApp — we assess your level and send you the next group dates and fees the same day.
